Fluminense Faces Internal Turmoil Amidst Injuries and Complaints

With the heavy sequence of games, Fluminense also started to live with a series of injuries. Dissatisfied, Marcelo made some internal complaints that were not well received by the group. Some of the star’s considerations even spilled over to Nilton Petrone, known as Filé, coordinator of the physiotherapy department and seen as a reference in the matter.

Felipe Petrone, son of Filé, who had been at the club for almost nine years and was seen as his father’s successor, even left Fluminense to work as a health and performance manager for players in Minas Gerais. Nilton Petrone, much loved by everyone at Tricolor, is already considering retirement at the end of the year.

With all this going on, Marcelo ended up being isolated in the group. Seen as a “popstar” by many, he is closer to young people who recently rose from the lower divisions and see him as an idol. The other players are on the side of the coaching staff.

The elimination for Flamengo in the round of 16 of the Copa Betano do Brasil generated internal echoes in Fluminense. After seeing repercussions on social networks that it would have popped up, Marcelo vehemently demanded from the football department, including executive director Paulo Angioni, that if it was disclosed that he actually had a calf injury, which occurred later (disclosure).

Disclosure of injuries, it is worth remembering, is a kind of “taboo” in Fluminense. The recent case of Matheus Ferraz is a good example, as the club tried to withhold the information that the experienced defender had a serious problem (needed to undergo surgery).

As much as Marcelo is a little isolated, the other players also defend a greater rotation. The left-back, for example, did not approve of being placed in matches against Cuiabá and Paysandu, at Maracanã, as it goes against his intention to play in the most important matches. Still according to Amaral, nobody liked to see captain Nino, not spared in the game against Goiás, leave with a problem and lose his first call-up to the main team.

In this hot weather, Fluminense will take to the field on Saturday, against Bahia, at Maracanã, for the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship. A victory can soften and, of course, put the joy back in the tricolors.

Another piece of information disclosed by Amaral in his video was that in the day-to-day life at the club one can notice the tension. Few smiles are registered when the activities end. And a fact is that there have been no press conferences at CT Carlos Castilho. Activities are carried out and nothing more.
