Devils Baseball Team Overcomes Challenges in Double Header Against Dockers

The Devils started well in Bremen and started with two runs in the first inning. But Bremen held on and scored five runs. In the second inning, however, the Dockers only managed one run and extended their lead to 2:6.

The Spadener didn’t give up and showed fighting spirit. The third inning brought the Spadeners the breakthrough. While Bremen only managed three runs, the Devils had twelve runs. Thus Spaden took the lead with 14:9. The fourth inning was a clear round for both teams. In the fifth inning, the baseballers from Spaden pulled out all the stops and scored nine runs, while the Dockers only got three more runs. So the result after two and a half hours of play was 23:12 for the Devils.

Devils only have to go on with eight players

In the second game of the day, the Devils had to do without a substitute starting in the second inning. All positions were filled, but there was no substitute. With the momentum from the first game, the Spadeners were able to start with two runs, but the Dockers held back with five runs. Bremen scored two and three runs in the second and third innings, while the Devils went away empty-handed.

The high summer temperatures and the first game made itself felt in the Spadeners. A Devils player was out in the third inning when he stumbled on the run to first base and injured his knee. After a short break, the Devils had to continue with only eight players. The two outfielders Lennard Strunck and Stefan Schlicht now had to cover the center field position. The Devils did their best but couldn’t do anything against Bremen. The Dockers managed to split the double header and won the last game by 2:12.
