Beasain: ‘III Training Basketball Clinic’ today afternoon in Antzizar

The local basketball club BKL will carry out today in the afternoon (starting at 5:30 pm) at the Antzizar Sports Center the III Training Basketball Clinic for coaches, with the collaboration of the Basque Basketball Federation and the Guipuzcoan Basketball Federation. The Clínic speakers will be Mikel Odriozola, coach of Juaristi ISB of LEB Oro this season, and Sergio Garcia, assistant coach of Surne Bilbao Basket of ACB.

The Gipuzkoan Mikel Odriozola, after his beginnings as a coach in training categories of different Basque clubs, began his professional life as assistant coach of Juaristi ISB of LEB Plata in 2019. Just one season later he would achieve promotion to LEB Oro. 22-23 Odriozola took the reins of the LEB Oro team. Last month he announced that he would not continue as coach of Juaristi ISB. He has also been the coach of the Basque Country in training categories.

Sergio García, also from Gipuzkoa, after 4 seasons as head coach of the First Division and EBA League, completed 7 seasons as assistant coach of Club Deportivo Maristas Palencia in LEB Play and LEB Oro until in the 15-16 season he took over the reins of the team during two seasons, managing to be Cup and League champions in the first and reaching the Play Off final in the last season. That same year, he returned to his hometown (Donostia) as assistant coach of the ACB Delteco GBC team, where he spent three seasons and later went to Galicia to lead Leyma Coruña of LEB Oro for another three seasons, in the which achieved very good results. To this day he is the assistant coach of ACB’s Surne Bilbao Basket.

Mikel Odriozola will begin the evening discussion with his presentation on ‘The Step 0’ and Sergio García will take the floor later, to analyze ‘The Defensive Balance’.
