Aveiro Football Association to Participate in National Walking Football Party

The Aveiro Football Association (AFA) will be represented with a team at the national Walking Football party, which will take place over the next weekend at Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras.

Jaime Paulo, responsible for the team, takes on a high dose of “enthusiasm and joy” on the eve of an event that is expected to be very lively. “We want to do the best we can, because results don’t matter. I hope everything goes well and that no one gets hurt,” he added.

The idea is reinforced by Ricardo Jorge, member of the Board of AFA, who stresses: “Our expectation is that people socialize, have fun, get into the habit of physical activity and that they gain a taste for the modality”.

Walking Football, an adapted aspect of football, is aimed at people over 50 and its primary objective is to promote a more active life, through sports and social interaction.

As the name implies, Walking Football rules do not allow athletes to run and limit to three consecutive touches of the ball, which cannot rise above one meter. Goals are only valid in bids completed within the area.

Each team is made up of five players, of all genders and without a goalkeeper, and the games last 40 minutes, divided into two halves.
