NBA In-Season Billion Dollar Tournament

The NBA In-Season Tournament will make its debut as early as next season: a tournament created specifically to create greater interest in Regular Season games which will most likely be played between November and December.

We’ve already talked about how this “mid-season tournament” should work, but reports have been emerging in recent days about how much revenue such a rally could generate.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, a meeting held between the GMs of the franchises would have estimated one billion dollars of revenue fromNBA In-Season Tournament:

This is exclusive news. Adam Silver reportedly told the GM meeting Tuesday or Wednesday here in Chicago that the league expects the In-Season Tournament to generate $1 billion in extra revenue.

This huge profit would have convinced all the teams of the goodness of this initiative:

One billion dollars. I don’t know where this calculation comes from, but clearly everyone is enthusiastic about this alone. Obviously there is also a goal to make some games more interesting before the postseason.

Adam Silverpromoter of this new tournament, has already stated how the league will do everything to show viewers what will be the “special” matches that will count for the new event:

Players will wear different uniforms. Maybe even the fields will be different. You all know for a fact that this is no ordinary regular season game

At the same time Silver recalled how the NBA title will remain the focus of the NBA season and its prestige will not be affected by the introduction of the In-Season Tournament:
