Marc Civit returns to UnipolSai Fortitudo | Baseball Mania

The Italian-Spanish pitcher, former Toronto Blue Jays, returns to wear the blue and white jersey after winning the 2020 championship.

L’UnipolSai Fortitudo Bologna reports that he has called back to base Marc Civit who played the first phase of the championship on loan at Farma Crocetta.

With the Emilian team, the Italian-Spanish pitcher played an excellent first phase: in 5 games played, 3 as starting pitcher, he finished with a balance of 3 wins and a salvation, against a defeat, ERA 2.39 and 28 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.

The almost twenty-one year old, who played in the Fortitudo shirt and in the ranks of Longbridge in the 2020 season, graduating as champion of Italy, will strengthen the mound and can be used in every match, having in the meantime obtained the status of Italian Training Athlete.

Marc Civit San Martin, left-handed pitcher born in Barcelona on June 26, 2002, arrived in Bologna at the age of eighteen, as one of the most interesting European prospects in terms of pitchers. At just 16 years old, on July 7, 2018 Marc signed a professional contract with the Toronto Blue Jays franchise, following in the footsteps of his father Xavier, also a pitcher.

The young Catalan had six appearances in the UnipolSai jacket in 2020, for a total of 5 innings, in which he conceded 3 hits and 3 ball bases against 7 eliminations at the plate. With Longbridge 2000, however, he played 8 games in the major league championship (7 starting pitcher) with a 3.41 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 31.2 restarts.

Athletic and slender physique (183 cm. in height by 68 kg. in weight), he has a wide variety of throws and rotations and boasts excellent strikeout averages. Dad’s help is crucial to learning the art of baseball from childhood, making his bones in the local formation of CBS Sant Boi, earning calls in youth selections, regional and national representative.

During the MLB European Academies tournament he was noticed by a Blue Jays scout and thus began his professional career with the rookie league team engaged in the Dominican Summer League.

For him 15 appearances in 2019 as relief, for a balance of 2 wins and a safety, closing the season with 3.13 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched, in which he allows 31 hits against 24 strikeouts. Also in 2019 he participates with the Spanish national team in the Under 18 World Cup.

In 2020 covid forced him to interrupt his journey with the Blue Jays, but in 2021 he returned to the franchise, engaged in the Florida Complex League, always at rookie level. For him 12 games, for a total of 16.2 shots, getting 3 wins, against only one defeat, with 17 eliminations at the plate.

In 2022 he completed his process of technical maturation and acquisition of experience in the same team, obtaining 2 wins and a salvation, 24 strikeouts in 18 innings, against 13 base balls.
