Galtier case: Didier Digard, players and employees of Nice heard by the police

The Galtier affair no longer makes the headlines, but the police continue to conduct their investigations. In recent days, according to information from RMC, Nice players have been heard by the police as part of the preliminary investigation targeting the former coach of OGC Nice, at the helm of PSG this season.

Coach Didier Digard and several club employees were also interviewed. The investigators proceed with a certain discretion, conducting their interviews at the club’s training centre.

The president of Nice, Jean-Pierre Rivère, was already heard last month.

“I gave everything I had to give, he said on April 20, during the quarter-final of the Europa League Conference against FC Basel. Everyone will have the freedom to express themselves on this subject. I will not go into details today. I saved this for the audition. Things will take their course. I think this investigation is going to take some time. We’ll see what happens. »

For the record, a preliminary investigation entrusted to the judicial police was carried out for suspicions of “discrimination based on an alleged race or belonging to a religion” on the basis of accusations against Christophe Galtier.

An internal club email sent by Julien Fournier, then general manager of the club, to his management on May 23, 2022, is at the origin of the case. In the said e-mail, Fournier, in conflict with Galtier, reported the following remarks, imputed to the coach: “He then replied that I had to take into account the reality of the city and that, in fact, we could not not have so many blacks and Muslims in the team” and “He told me of his desire to change the team in depth, also specifying that he wanted to limit the number of Muslim players as much as possible”.

For his part, the Parisian coach rejects these accusations as a whole and said he was “deeply shocked” by the comments reported. “I have confidence in the justice system of my country, I can only be satisfied with the opening of an investigation,” he commented at a press conference.
