NBA – Mastermind of the Thunder, leader in the West, Mark Daigneault is named Coach of the Year at only 39 years old.
While perhaps waiting for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (MVP) and/or Chet Holmgren (Rookie of the Year), it is first the turn of another member of the Thunder to be awarded by the NBAand this is a logical and expected coronation. Mark Daigneault was in fact designated “ Coach of the Year » 2024, at the expense of Chris Finch (Wolves) and Jamahl Mosley (Magic).
Already named Coach of the Year by his peers, the barely 39-year-old technician also wins the prize among journalists, succeeding Mike Brown on the list. Everything except a surprise, when we note that the boss of OKC managed to lead his team to first place in the Western conference (tied with the Nuggets, reigning champions), while it displays an average of age of about… only 24!

In the fall of 2020, for his first experience in the league as a head coach, Mark Daigneault did not take long to make a name for himself in the industry. After the first two years, which were tricky to say the least (46-108 combined), he finished in second place in the voting for the 2023 COY. A year later, a return to the playoffs and 17 more victories, he is decorated!
Oklahoma City’s good results in the regular season (57-25) are confirmed in the playoffs, since they are currently 3-0 in the series against New Orleans in the first round…
