Badminton Xàtiva achieves 8 medals in the Top TTR tournament in Enguera

The Xàtiva Badminton Club won 8 medals in the Top TTR tournament of lower categories, played last weekend in the Jaime Alegre de Enguera municipal pavilion. The Setabense club was represented by 13 athletes, who competed in all categories, except the sub-11 category. The tournament brought together 112 athletes from Castilla la Mancha, Murcia and the Valencian Community. The Setabenses won one gold, five silver and two bronze.

In Sub-13 Arnau Ballester hung the silver after falling in the final against Adrián Molero. For his part, Adrià Meseguer could not achieve any victory.

Feliu Terol also hung the silver, in individual Sub-15, where he fell in the final against Daniel Teruel by 19-21, 23-21 and 22-20. The man from Setabé had an advantage in the third set, with 18-20, but his nerves played a trick on him and he ended up giving up the set and the match, getting a silver that he knows little. In the men’s singles, Meshack Martínez and Alexis Piñero also played, who failed to get past the group stage. Martina Molina competed in the women’s singles. In men’s doubles, Arnau and Adrià played, from Under-13 but who competed in a higher category as there were no more partners in theirs; and Meshack and Alexis, who were unable to access the final draw. In the mixed doubles, Martina and Feliu got the bronze medal after falling in the semifinals against Leyre Simon and Lucas Vallés by 21-14 and 21-18.

In the Under-17 category, Marcos Cimas took another bronze in individual, after losing in the semifinal against Mateo Fernández, who was finally the champion of the tournament. Sergi Benet, Ximo Torres and Jesús Cimas also competed for CB Xàtiva, who did not make it past the group stage. Andrea Orquín was also unable to advance to the final phase, in the female category. In women’s doubles, Andrea played with Claudia Gallego, from CB Infante de Murcia, and they were proclaimed winners and a gold medal after beating Isabel Díaz and Claudia Teruel from Murcia, whom they beat in a tight third set 21-19. In men’s doubles, Marcos and Jesús Cimas got the silver after losing in the final against Mateo Fernández and Miguel Paya by 21-13 and 21-11.

In Sub-19 David Polop and Vicent Molina competed, who did not overcome the individual group stage. In mixed doubles, Vicent and Nuria Martínez, from CB Enguera, won the silver after losing in the final to Quique Gil and Sara Sáez 21-4 and 21-18. The fifth silver medal came in the men’s doubles, for David and Vicentwho lost in the final against Quique Gil and Adrián Gálvez by 21-17, 19-21, 21-17.

The Xàtiva Badminton Club will go next weekend to the Absolute Spanish Championship, Parabadminton and CNI 2023, which will meet in Seville 148 athletes, including Selenia Pla, from Seta, who will compete in the national parabadminton tournament. Pla, who will travel accompanied by the technician M.ª José Mompó, will also compete in the National Inclusive Circuit (CNI), which will take place in parallel to the national championships.

CB Xàtiva will also be present in the Provincial School Games Championship of the Valencian Community in the youngest and youngest categories, which will take place next Saturday in the capital of the Costera. The Setabense club will compete with 9 athletes, who will fight for the first places in the competition that will take place in the Francisco Ballester de Xàtiva municipal pavilion.

The club will also play the Top TTR Sub-11, Sub-15, Sub-19 and Senior tournaments; and in the Top TTR València Absolute and Senior. The first will take place on Saturday in Murcia, where the senior Santiago Villanueva will travel, who will compete in the individual and double events together with his partner José Belmonte. In the Top TTR Valencia, which will take place on Sunday, Eduard Beltrán will play in the absolute category; and Daniel Meseguer and Carlos Martínez, senior.
