35km walk | Double of Spain with records of María Pérez and Álvaro Martín in the 35 kilometer march of the Europeans

The Spanish walkers gave an exhibition this Sunday at the Podebrady circuit (Czech Republic) and they were proclaimed European team champions in the male and female categories in 35 kilometersdistance at which Álvaro Martín, from Extremadura, with a national record, and María Pérez, with a world record, won.

The great exhibition of the morning session was carried out by the women led by Maria Perez, who smiled again after a 2022 marked by disqualifications in the European and in the World Cup. In the Czech city, the woman from Granada set a new world record with 2:37:15, lowering it by 29 seconds.

Álvaro Martín, from Extremadura, 20-kilometer European champion in Munich 2022, came first after dominating the race from start to finish and stop the clock at 2:25:35, a Spanish record, ahead of the German Christopher Linke (2h27:05) and his compatriot Miguel Angel Lopezwhich arrived at 2h27:33.

The third walker who secured the victory in the team general classification was Marc Tur from the Balearic Islands, who entered eighth with 2h32:06. The last Spaniard on the team was Manuel Bermúdez, fifteenth with 2:35:46.

Spain was accompanied on the general podium by the Italian team, silver, and the German team, bronze.
