The Austrian 3×3 basketball team called Team Vienna finished third at the World Tour opener in Utsunomiya in Japan at the weekend.
Matthias Linortner, Nico Kaltenbrummer, Martin Trmal and US legionnaire Quincy Diggs only had to admit defeat in the semifinals by the Serbian number one in the world, later winner Ub Huishan NE, with 16:21. It was the first appearance under Austria’s new Serbian 3×3 head coach Milan Isakov.
In one month (May 30th to June 4th) the 3×3 World Championships are on the agenda on Vienna’s Rathausplatz, where the ÖBV men want to impress. In addition to medals, the three top teams also have an Olympic ticket for the 2024 Summer Games in Paris waiting for them.
