Three days of fun with the Langhe Roero youth basketball tournament

BASKETBALL After the great success of the last edition, the Langhe Roero national youth basketball tournament will take place again in 2023, scheduled from 22 to 24 April.

The event is organized by Olimpo basket Alba, Pallacanestro Farigliano and Langhe Roero twin towns and will welcome hundreds of young athletes from all over Italy. Thirty-two teams will flock to the area and will compete for three days of basketball and fun.

The tournament

The tournament is spread over three categories, hosted by seven different municipalities of Langhe and Roero. The beginners category (twelve teams) will be hosted by the sports halls of Alba (Pala Langhe and Kinder village) and Guarene (Vaccheria gym). The men’s Under 13 category (twelve teams) will instead be the protagonist on the fields of Carrù, Dogliani and Farigliano. Finally, the women’s Under 13 (eight teams) will take place in Corneliano and La Morra.

The competitions will take place between Saturday, Sunday and Monday and the event will close with the award ceremony which will involve all the athletes in the splendid setting of Piazza Colbert in Barolo.

The tournament organized by Franco Zimbardi received the precious and fundamental support of the CRC foundation, Adhoclogica, Nostra Manera, Banca d’Alba. The patronage of the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Authority, Fip Piemonte and the eight Municipalities of Alba, Barolo, Carrù, Corneliano d’Alba, Dogliani, Farigliano, La Morra and Guarene also supported the event.

The friendly cellars

It will be three days of celebration thanks to basketball, but it will also be an opportunity for many families from all over Italy to visit the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato areas. In fact, over a thousand people will arrive for the event and will have the wonderful opportunity to discover a land that knows how to surprise with its beauty and also with its flavours. And for this reason, the companions and families following the athletes will have special agreements at the “friendly wineries”: Ascheri, Tenuta Carretta, Ceretto, Cordero di Montezemolo, Marchesi di Barolo, Rivetto, Rizzi, Vini Romana, as well as at Vinum (the wine fair) in Alba. The friendly wineries will also offer their products as a gift to the technical staff.
