The NBA explains the disqualification to Green: “Excessive and repeat offender”

Joe Dumars, on behalf of the NBA, details the factors that led to the decision to ban Draymond Green for one game

Draymond Green has crossed the line, and his gesture could cost dearly to the Golden State Warriors. The number 23 is known for his constant borderline behavior in hot moments of the games, but this time he may have exaggerated.

During Game 2 of the series against the Sacramento Kingswith seven minutes remaining in a very tight game, feeling held back by Domantas Sabonis, Green reacted by beating him in the chest. The show didn’t end there, given the public provocations immediately following the episode.

Dray was ejected by the umpires, and now suspended one game by the league. The decision came amid a thousand controversies, in one sense and in the other.

Joe Dumars, as Executive Vice President of the NBA, explained it this way:

Here are what the deciding factors were: excessive and over-the-limit actions by a repeat player in such acts. That’s why we decided to suspend

We know what the situation is with the series, but you have to put that aside and look at the facts. The gesture itself would have been looked at seriously by the league, a kick in the chest, if you add the player’s previous history, becomes a certain suspension.

Post-expulsion behavior was an extra he didn’t need to do, and it certainly didn’t help him.
