The streak of home results ends for the New Flying Balls, defeated 85-87 by Bakery Piacenza in a key match for the play-off fight. Ozzano with an aggressive finish manages to save the difference between baskets which at one point seemed compromised, and in the last lap he risks a sensational comeback.

Sprint departure for coach Loperfido’s boys, who fly to 9-0 in 2 minutes pushed by Klyuchnyk and Balducci. After reaching the maximum advantage at 13-3, Sinermatic slowly sees the gap disappear, thanks to a tough Piacenza that finds important baskets from all the men of the quintet. However, Ozzano always maintains the advantage, exploiting the exploits under the basket of the Chiappelli-Klyuchnyk pairing; he goes to the first break on 25-23 Flying Balls.

Ozzano also starts well in the second period, with the Bonfiglio-Chiappelli-Felici trio capable of guaranteeing +8 in the middle of the fraction (35-27). Coltro and Passoni on the other side give the charge and in the 18th minute Venuto puts in a four-point play which is worth the first overtaking from Piacenza (37-40). Inertia was now in the hands of the visitors and at the interval along the scoreboard of the Pala Arti Grafiche Reggiani scored 40-44 Bakery.

At the start of the third quarter, after -1 Ozzano signed by Barattini from long range, Gabriele Berra takes the chair for the travelers, who in a few seconds with two bombs projects Piacenza on +7 (43-50). A Berra in a competitive trance and Coltro push the guests up to +11 in the middle of the quarter (46-57). Klyuchnyk replies from the arc but it’s still Berra who scores the fifth bomb of the evening (of the six made), for the new +11 Bakery. Ozzano struggles in attack, thanks to an excellent zone given by coach Del Re. Moments of nervousness towards the end of the quarter, when a failed referee whistle triggers protests from coach Del Re and Venuto, both sanctioned with coaches; on the other hand, instead, Barattini was unsportsmanlike for a skirmish with Venuto himself who, targeted by the whistles of a fiery Palasport, did not materialize by missing both free throws. Nothing serious for him and for his Bakery, which a few minutes later on the siren at the end of the quarter marks the bomb of +14 (55-69).

The Ozzanese evening goes badly, because in addition to the defeat that now seems to be one step away, even the +7 of the first leg appears to be in great danger. At the start of the last quarter, Captain Folli was released with 5 consecutive points. Piacenza drops in intensity and loses a few balls too many, on the other hand Sinermatic takes advantage of it and returns to -9 with Barattini and Chiappelli. Piacenza relies on the triples from Coltro and Angleucci to get back on +12 with 2’30’ from the end (73-85). In the last 150 seconds, however, the pride of coach Loperfido’s boys comes out with Klyuchnyk and Barattini who bring the Flying back to -6 50” from the end (in this case the difference in baskets would be in favor of the Ozzanesi). Coltro loses the ball when a possessed Chiappelli presses, and Barattini blows up the Pala Arti Grafiche Reggiani with a triple of -3 (82-85). Heart-pounding final: Coltro makes a mistake conceding the last pitch to Ozzano. Piacenza decides to foul 9” from the end, Lasagni scores the first (83-85), misses the second hoping for a rebound from his teammates. Angelucci makes him the ball and takes the foul from Chiappelli. 1 out of 2 for the Piacenza wing (83-86). New intentional foul by Piacenza who sends Barattini 3” from the line. The 24th player from Ozzana scores both free throws (getting angry with himself because the second purposely wanted to make a mistake) for 85-86. At 1”7 tenths foul on Coltro. The bedlam of the Ozzanese Palazzetto causes Coltro to miss the first, but not the second (85-87). Klyuchynk’s last prayer does not reach the iron, Piacenza clears Ozzano by two lengths, 85-87 in the final.

An important success for the Bakery, which hooks Ozzano to 30 points in the standings, who however in an evening where he loses the unbeaten home run that had lasted for three and a half months, manages at least to safeguard the difference between baskets thus maintaining the fifth place in the standings two days before the end of the regular season.
