one by one, all the football debts that generated this red panorama

Every day in the life of Independiente is a surprise. Now hope was renewed by the collection that the club promoted together with the influencer Santiago Maratea, determined to get the money that the Avellaneda institution needs to clean up its accounts. However, the road will be thorny. Millionaire debts continue to appear for the Avellaneda club. And after the resounding departure of Fabián Doman as president, it is the members, fans and a handful of leaders who are trying to make the King of Cups resurface.

A month ago -before the resignations of Leandro Stillitano and Doman- it was learned that the arrival of Juanito Cazares (free from Ukraine’s Metalist) cost Red $1,375,000 between rights to the player and the commission to his representative. The Ecuadorian claims the money and this new headache adds to the more than 25 unpaid commitments linked to professional football left by the Hugo Moyano era and which in total exceed 20 million dollars. That with the exchange rate run that the country experienced in the last week, they became an even steeper slope.

Independiente has been covered by debts for a while. Already in the last stage of Moyano’s second presidency, the Devil was the protagonist time and again due to the bad news that arose from salary claims, summonses, lawsuits and even numerous inhibitions. Some were paid off, others were negotiated with a payment plan and others were left adrift.

Upon assuming the Board of Directors that was imposed in October of last year, an audit was carried out to know the real economic state of the institution. However, for several weeks new issues have been uncovered that have to do with more claims that fall without prior notice, as had been the situation of Cazares.

What happened was that the previous leadership bought him the pass behind the wheel and had to start paying him on July 5, 2022 in a first installment, something that did not happen. The successive installments were not paid either.

Later, the FIFA ruling in favor of Fernando Gaibor for $ 2,394,000 also emerged plus 5 percent annual interest. In any case, this sentence is not final and the Red’s lawyers have already warned that they will make use of the appeal while they talk with the representatives of the Ecuadorian soccer player.

There are debts of all colors in Independiente football. Of exorbitant figures and other smaller and “payable”. It is owed to players, representatives, clubs, companies and coaches. The largest amount without a doubt is the one owed to América de México for 5.7 million dollars.s. Due to this debt -in fact- Independiente is today inhibited.

Another high value is the one that claims Gonzalo Verón: 2,332,081,796 pesos, about 9.8 million dollars at the official exchange rate of the date. That was the figure that justice ruled in a first instance ruling that the Devil must pay. Anyway this went up to the Supreme Court.

In total, the football debt that remained in Independiente far exceeds the 20 million dollars.

The leaders who remained in charge of Independiente (Daniel Seoane, the General Secretary, is the visible face) are trying to mitigate the crisis. Some cases were canceled, such as the salary debt with Sebastián Sosa (28 million pesos). In others, a payment plan could be renegotiated, as happened with the claim by Gabriel Hachen ($297,072).

But the vast majority have yet to find a resolution so as not to end up in more lawsuits or claims in FIFA. Will the collection of Maratea be able to give relief?
