???? Remco Evenepoel answers Jan Bakelants to altitude internship

Remco Evenepoel is putting the finishing touches to the preparation for the Giro in Spain. And the world champion goes very deep.

After Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Remco Evenepoel left for Spain again to put the finishing touches to his preparation for the Giro in the altitude hotel Syncrosfera of ex-cyclist Alexander Kolobnev.

Evenepoel can train well one last time before he starts the Giro next Saturday. And the world champion does not look for an effort more or less.

Evenepoel shared a photo of his training sessions on his social media. “Striving for perfection,” the world champion wrote. Evenepoel has exchanged the white bib shorts of Liège-Bastogne-Liège for a black one.

Jan Bakelants was concerned Cycling Club Wattage questions about the new altitude training of Evenepoel. “That causes extra stress. During my career I have also often found that doing more does not always lead to better results.”

Evenepoel was already good in Liège, that will not disappear in a week. “Whether he stays at home for a few days or is in Spain, I don’t think it will make much difference,” said Bakelants.
