Linguaglossa time trial: Fazzino the fastest in the tests

The third edition of the Linguaglossa Cronoscalata – Piano Provenzana Etna – Nord Trofeo Ciccio Giuffrida, organized by Asd Passione & Sport, is preparing to start the engines. The race, which will take place on Sunday 23 April, is valid for the South Mountain Speed ​​Trophy, the Italian twin-cylinder championship, the Sicilian modern car speed championship, the Sicilian historic car speed championship and the second Etna Trophy. The challenge takes place on a track unique in the world, just over 8 km long, which winds along the northern side of Etna, inside the Etna Park, offering breathtaking views.

The best time in qualifying was set by Syracusan Luigi Fazzino, aboard his Peugeot Pa 2000 Turbo, with a time of 3’52.42. Closely followed by Franco Caruso from Comis, driving the Zytec Np01-2, with a time of 4’02.67, and by the third classified, Dario Gentile on Honda Pa21S, with 4’15.97.

In the Historic Cars Category, first place went to Antonio Piazza, aboard his Lucchini Sp 90, who recorded a time of 4’31.76, followed by Ciro Barbaccia and Andrea Barbaccia.

The race, which will take place over two heats along the Strada Mareneve, promises strong emotions.

“Today was a spectacular day – commented Michele Vecchio, patron of the sporting event – ​​The weather was splendid and the trials went off in the best possible way. We have not recorded any accidents. Everything took place under the masterful direction of the great race director Marco Cascino. We are happy about it, also because it bodes well for tomorrow’s race”.

The competition involves the participation of high-level competitors and represents an important opportunity to promote Sicily and the Etna area.
