Judokas achieve medals in the Pan American Championship

The Panamanian athletes Lilian Cordones and Kristine Jiménez highlighted the Pan American Judo Championship that was held in Varadero, Cuba.

Cordones, in the -52 kg, achieved the gold medal after defeating Nikol Pencue of Colombia in the final.

Kristine Jiménez also climbed to the podium in the -57 kg with the silver medal after playing the final against the local Cuban, Arnaes Odelin.

Other Panamanian athletes who participated in the international event were Nemesis Candelo in the -52 kg category, Bernabé Vergara, who in the -60 kg category obtained fifth place and Alexis Harrison, who in the -81 kg category obtained seventh place.

It should be noted that the tournament distributed points for qualifying for the Pan American Games to be held this year in Santiago de Chile and for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

A total of 159 judokas (90 men and 69 women) participated in the open and included competitions in 14 divisions.
