Trento, Lockett confident for the end of the season: “We are focused on doing our best game after game”

It was a serene Easter at Dolomiti Energia Trentino, a team which, in the match on Saturday 9 April valid for the twenty-fifth matchday of Serie A UnipolSai 2022/23, returned to give joy to its fans by clearly beating Pallacanestro Trieste.

The success against the Giuliani, the second in a row after the one obtained in Pesaro the week before and the first at the BLM Group Arena following the knockouts remedied against Bertram Yachts Tortona and GeVi Napoli, brought the Aquila to have 26 points in the standings (the same as Happy Casa Brindisi and Umana Reyer Venezia) but above all it highlighted, as underlined in L’Adige by Trent Lockett, one of the best versions of Trentino.

“We are all very energized and happy with the victories against Pesaro and Trieste as they arrived: they are two important successes for the standings, but they make me very proud of the work we did as a team before those matches. We managed to put the right concentration and focus on the court to play our best basketball and get the better of our game plan. Now it is important to continue to build on this momentum that we have built and to give continuity to that type of performance. Regrets? There’s no need to think about it now, we’re focused on doing our best game after game” said the Juventus number 52 before launching into a comment on his individual contribution this season.

“I’m the type of player Lockett says who tries to help the team in any way possible. I pride myself on my ability to have impact in defence, side of the pitch where I have to be a pillar for the team and for my team-mates. In attack I haven’t always been able to produce as I would have liked, but I think overall in the last few games we have done better in keeping attack and defense balanced and in being able to have high quality levels on both halves.”

Finding the right balance between the two phases will be essential in the Dolomiti Energia house also to try to lengthen the series of consecutive useful results, a mission made immediately complicated by the challenge against Virtus Segafredo Bologna in the next round.

“To beat a great opponent like Virtus, with its organization and its great players, we will have to play a game of enormous concentration and energy, we will have to remain faithful to that game identity that has allowed us to win the last few games by a margin. We will certainly go to Bologna with a great desire to compete with one of the strongest teams in Europe and evaluate our progress” said Lockett, convinced that Trento can make an important journey between now and the end of the year.

“In my first experience in Trento, in fact, we went on until the semi-final of the EuroCup. The goal this year could then be an opportunity to make our way into the Scudetto playoffs next May. Why not? I believe a lot in our technical and organizational staff, in the compactness of the group between players. We have the possibility, if we live every opportunity to the fullest, to obtain many satisfactions” commented the native of Golden Valley determinedly.
