Hockey national coach Paul van Ass has not selected Eva Drummond-De Goede for the Dutch national team, hockey.nl reports. Van Ass has not said why he has not included the 258-time international in his training group of 25 players.

Drummond-De Goede, twice named world player of the year, announced in October when Van Ass was appointed that she wanted to take a break with the Dutch for several reasons. She then made herself available again, but Van Ass is not calling on her for the time being.

The 34-year-old player of HGC tells hockey.nl that she is disappointed. “This is totally unexpected for me.” She also reports that she cannot agree with the explanation that the national coach has given her.

The Orange squad will be preparing for the European Championship in Germany (August) in the coming months. It is unclear whether Drummond-De Goede can still play in that selection for that tournament.
