Beer offender doesn’t feel guilty

Dhe beer shaker from Zwickau commented on his act last Sunday for the first time – and blames the referee, the lack of safety precautions and even the beer mug. With his action, the man caused the third division game between FSV Zwickau and Rot-Weiss Essen to be canceled.

He had a knee-jerk reaction, he now told the newspaper Freie Presse: If there hadn’t been a half-full mug of beer at his feet, which he then quickly grabbed, nothing would have happened. Above all, referee Nicolas Winter is to blame for his involuntary beer shower due to his poor performance.

And the culprit, who turned out to be the club’s sponsor, also sees the club as responsible: there were no appropriate safety precautions in the stadium.

recourse announced

Last Sunday, the man, who by his own admission used to be a referee himself, threw a beer in Referee Winter’s face during the half-time walk into the dressing room. The perpetrator was quickly identified and now faces legal consequences.

Zwickau’s CEO, Frank Fischer, has already announced that he intends to take recourse against the beer shaker. It is conceivable that the FSV will pass on the expected fine to the man through the German Football Association (DFB).

After the scandal, Winter stopped the game at half-time when the score was 1-1. How the game will be rated is still unclear. Should Zwickau lose the game at the green table, relegation from the 3rd division for the Saxons becomes more and more likely.
