Beauharnois honors the memory of Guy A. Gervais

It was during the council meeting held on Tuesday, April 11 that the municipal council of the City of Beauharnois formalized the new name of the baseball field in Parc des Cèdres for “Terrain de baseball Guy-A.-Gervais” in honor of Mr. Gervais, a citizen involved in his community for several decades. For the occasion, members of his family were present and were able to sign the municipality’s guestbook.

Guy A. Gervais has devoted much of his life to serving his community. Member of the municipal council as alderman for 28 years, from 1966 to 1994, he worked tirelessly to improve the living conditions of the citizens of Beauharnois. Fervent lover of sport and youth. He was particularly involved in sports activities such as baseball and minor hockey. He was a coach for about 15 years and thereafter, a faithful spectator of the baseball games of his sons, his grandchildren and many other young people. He was highly respected by members of the community for his passion, determination and generosity.

Mr. Gervais passed away in 2018, leaving a lasting legacy in the Beauharnois community. The City has decided to pay tribute to his memory by renaming the baseball field at Parc des Cèdres in his honor. This decision reflects the City’s commitment to citizens and their contribution to the community.

“The City of Beauharnois is proud to celebrate the life and legacy of Guy A. Gervais by renaming this baseball field in his honor. Guy was a dedicated volunteer and sports enthusiast, who left a lasting mark on our community. We are grateful for his contributions and we hope that this gesture will help honor his memory for generations to come,” said Alain Dubuc, Mayor of Beauharnois.

The City of Beauharnois invites all citizens to join her in celebrating this important event in the history of the City. The Guy-A.-Gervais baseball field will remain a symbol of Guy’s passion and commitment to sports and the youth of Beauharnois.
