Badminton Asia Championships 2023, Jonatan Reveals Obstacles to the Court Carpet

KOMPAS.com – Indonesian men’s singles, Jonatan Christie, revealed that the obstacle on the court carpet is something that must be anticipated when competing in the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships.

The Indonesian badminton team is currently preparing for the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships tournament which will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 25 to 30 April 2023.

After arriving in Dubai, Sunday (23/4/2023) morning, the Indonesian badminton team immediately held their first practice on the playing field of the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Al Nasr Club, on Sunday afternoon.

After practice, Jonatan Christie’s men’s singles admitted that the obstacle on the court carpet was something that had to be anticipated.

Jonathan felt that the carpet used was rough in nature which made his movements difficult because he often slipped.

“You can say that you are still tired after yesterday’s trip, but because this is the opportunity to practice in the main hall, I will try to maximize the feelings first and find out what the field conditions are like,” said Jonatan, in a press release from PBSI.

“The obstacle earlier was in the field because I don’t know why, maybe because the base of the carpet was rough so there were several slips,” said Jojo, Jonathan’s nickname.

“However, all players must feel it, so at least later try to go over how to play first how to implement a strategy in conditions like this,” he said.

The other men’s singles representative, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, made this first exercise to restore his fitness.

“Today the main focus is on field adaptation, but I also use it to make the muscles fresh again after flying long distances last night. Let the body sweat too,” said Ginting.

“The preparations from Jakarta have been good, going well and there were no injuries,” he said.

“Tomorrow there is still the last practice to pay more attention to the details, hopefully this week we can give our best performance,” said Ginting.
