Michael van Gerwen won the Dutch squatter against Raymond van Barneveld at the European Darts Open. In the second round of the tournament in Leverkusen, the five-time tournament winner won 6-4.

The match between the current and former flag bearer of the Dutch darts went on for a long time. Only in the tenth and last leg did Van Gerwen manage to break Van Barneveld.

Last Thursday, Van Gerwen went down hard against Gerwin Pryce in the Premier League, but he was back on track against Van Barneveld. He finished with an average of 108, more than ten points more than Van Barneveld.

In the eighth finals, Van Gerwen will face the Belgian Dimitri Van de Bergh, who was 6-2 too strong for James Wade.

Three Dutchmen through

In addition to Van Gerwen, Danny Noppert and Dirk van Duijvenbode also reached the last sixteen of the European Darts Open.

Noppert won 6-2 against Chris Dobey and will face Dave Chisnall on Sunday. Van Duijvenbode defeated Ted Evetts (6-3) and will face Ross Smith for a place in the quarter-finals.
