Steven Da Costa and Mehdi Filali both European champions in Spain.
Steven Da Costa, Olympic karate champion, won his third European champion title on Saturday in -67 kg, a few hours after another Frenchman, Mehdi Filali, crowned in -84 kg in Guadalajara (Spain).
Da Costa beat the Greek Dionysios Xenos in the final. At the age of 26, he thus won his third individual continental title after those of 2016 and 2019.
He had also won Olympic gold from the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where karate was an additional sport. Da Costa also has two world championship titles to his name, in 2018 and 2021.
In the middle of the day, Filali had dominated in the -84 kg final another Greek, George Tzanos.
