Valenciaport becomes the first railway school linked to a port

The Valenciaport Foundation (spain) became the first railway school linked to a port after presenting its first program to jointly obtain the Driver’s License and the Driving Diploma. And it is that, last February, the Foundation has obtained the approval as a training center for railway personnel, thus allowing the department responsible for this entity to expand its offer of specialties.

The main purpose of this course is to provide students with the driver’s license and the diploma that accredits the minimum general knowledge necessary for category B certificates. Obtaining the Driving License and Diploma together with the corresponding Certificate qualifies your holder to drive trains on the General Interest Railway Network.

In principle, the first edition of this course has a maximum of 20 places and will begin on April 11, with the end date being December 18 of this year. It is worth mentioning that the program includes a total of 1,150 teaching hours, of which 650 hours are dedicated to the theoretical part and 500 hours to practice. These will be divided according to the schedules of the trains in circulation, and may be daytime and nighttime.

An advantage of the course is that the Valenciaport Foundation is located in the port of Valencia, which facilitates the programming of visits, workshops and practices in the terminals that have a railway connection. There will also be visits to railway facilities of interest and other related activities.

Rail transport is gaining prominence in the Valencian enclosure, only in 2022 4,634 trains entered or left the enclosure, which represents a growth of 9% compared to the year 2021.

On the other hand, the Port of Valencia has decided to promote decarbonization through short-distance maritime lines, which favor the energy transition and the fight against climate change, as explained by the port authorities of the Valencian mooring within the framework of the LetExpo Fair.
