PAN must clarify why it gave money to García Luna’s company: AMLO – El Sol de México

After announcing that the National Action Party (PAN) hired a company owned by Genaro García Luna and paid 1,100,000 pesos 8 years ago, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador demanded that the party explain what the benefit was for.

During his press conference, the president took the opportunity to display a video of the national leader of the PAN, Marko Cortés, where he acknowledged that he gave money to García Luna for the payment of services, however, López Obrador demanded that he explain what type of services he performed the former Secretary of Security to give him money.

“Provisions of services for personnel issues? What did García Luna do? Human resources? It would be good to know what it was for,” the President questioned at a press conference.

The pianist leader assured yesterday that he was not aware of the payment made in 2015 to García Luna and accused that President López Obrador pressures his party for being an opponent of his government.

“We were not aware of it, but part of the persecution and this desperate attempt to discredit the strongest opposition in our country is what the president has been pointing out.”

Last week, the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) revealed that in the PAN government of Felipe Calderón, the companies of Genaro García Luna obtained 10 illegal contracts for 316 million 675 thousand 995 dollars, and that the party transferred 1.1 million pesos to one of its companies in April 2015, when Gustavo Madero was its president.

Urges Felipe Calderón to defend García Luna

Likewise, the president also called on former President Felipe Calderón to openly define whether he is going to defend his former Secretary of Security, Genaro García Luna, and even challenged him to debate the issue.

“If he feels that García Luna is innocent, then let him face the United States Attorney’s Office. And let there be a good debate.”

President López Obrador pointed out that it does not matter that it is the Courts in the United States because when you are convinced that you are acting in accordance with the truth, you can face any adversary.
