Seawolves coach criticizes performance against Würzburg

Rostock (dpa/mv) – After missing out on a win against the Würzburg Baskets in the race for the playoff spots in the Basketball Bundesliga, the Rostock Seawolves put their attacking performance to the test. “I think that in the end he was deserved for Würzburg because we didn’t manage to play offensively the way we wanted,” said head coach Christian Held after the 72:76 (38:36) win against his direct competitor on Saturday evening in front of 4082 spectators in the town hall.

Held admitted, however, that the visitors’ defense also played a part in his team not scoring as hoped. However, in his 25th BBL game, the promoted team had a clear lead in the first and second half, but gave up the lead again. “In defence, we had problems with Whittaker and Hunt,” admitted Held after Mecklenburg’s 13th defeat of the season.

In the table, the Mecklenburgers still remain tenth and, thanks to the success of the Veolia Towers Hamburg against the Frankfurt Skyliners, still have a large cushion on the relegation places. The advantage over the Hessians, who are currently in 17th place, is still six wins with nine games left.
