The Los Angeles Angels received some very bad news on Tuesday.

ESPN has learned that outfielder Mike Trout will have to go under the knife to undergo knee surgery.

That said, this operation should not end the 32-year-old athlete’s campaign. Although recovery time has not been disclosed, he could return to play in four to six weeks if the ideal scenario occurs, according to ESPN.

Trout reportedly suffered the injury during the Angels’ 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.

The main person concerned was also very emotional at a press conference on Tuesday.

“After the end of the [troisième] inning, I was running towards the dugout, I felt a little pain in my knee, he said. It wasn’t serious pain, but I was like, “Oh, that was weird.” I didn’t think about it more than that. I hit, I ran, I didn’t feel anything. […] It was right after, when I was doing activity, when I was sitting down, when I was getting up, that’s when I started to feel it.”

Obviously, this news will hurt the Angels, who are not having the expected start to the season, posting a record of 11-18. Trout, meanwhile, has sent the ball to safety 24 times and extended his arms 10 times in 109 at-bats since the start of the 2024 campaign.
