Long break for Hegyi after tearing his Achilles tendon

Judoka Stephan Hegyi remains true to bad luck. The Viennese, who had to take a nine-month break last year due to a cruciate ligament tear in his left leg, tore his Achilles tendon in his right leg last week before the Grand Slam tournament in Tashkent and will be operated on on Wednesday.

Judoka Hegyi is out again after injury

Hegyi, who fights in the class over 100 kg, will be out for a good three months according to the association’s broadcast and will miss both the World Championships in Doha at the beginning of May and the home Grand Prix in Linz at the end of May. The 24-year-old should be able to start training again in mid-June.
