Chen Maobo published a blog yesterday, pointing out that in the “Financial Budget” published last month, he announced the reservation of resources to study and renovate some unused floors of the Kwun Chung Municipal Building to provide indoor venues suitable for “urban sports” such as skateboarding and climbing ; At the same time, it is also studying the improvement of the basketball court adjacent to the George V Memorial Park in Kowloon, and building it into an “urban sports and sports center” including indoor and outdoor venues. He expects to complete the technical feasibility study on the reconstruction project within this year and conduct consultation according to the procedures.
Chen Maobo also said that the Leisure and Cultural Services Department already has many “urban sports” related venues, including 14 indoor and outdoor sports climbing facilities, 8 skateboarding grounds, 5 extreme sports grounds, and more than 120 futsal pitches. The authorities also plan to upgrade the existing venue facilities to provide bouldering walls and skateboarding facilities. ◇
