In 2021, Bayern Munich inherited Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (2-3, 1-0), less than a year after the final won by the Bavarians (1-0). Thomas Müller (33) then spoke on social networks to express his joy at finding the Parisians. Problem, his “goodbye” at the end of the video had been perceived as a promise of elimination by the Ile-de-France supporters. Two years later, the striker insisted on explaining himself.
“I understand, thanks to my French teammates, that people in France have taken my ‘goodbye’ as ‘goodbye, you are leaving’. But my level of French is not good.
