“FC Barcelona was late in the race”

He was considered the absolute royal transfer of the “bulls” when he switched from Maccabi Tel Aviv to the city of Mozart this winter for seven million euros.

Oscar Gloukh has now been included in the renowned “30 under 30” list of the Israeli Forbes magazine and revealed in an interview how close he really was to a transfer to FC Barcelona.

“When my agent called to say Barcelona wanted me, I was very excited. But they were late in the race and we were already set on Salzburg. We knew it was the best choice for me,” he said Israeli.

Salzburg was “the right decision”

Even after his arrival and his first appearances in the Bundesliga and Europa League, Gloukh does not regret his decision: “In the end, I think we made the right decision when we chose Salzburg and not Barcelona. It works more sense of my development as a player.”

The attacking midfielder does not reveal whether the fact that the 18-year-old has been a big Real Madrid fan since childhood played a small role.

Nevertheless, the “royal” would probably still be ahead in a hunt for the jewel in the future: “My biggest dream is to play at the Bernabeu and wear the kit of Real Madrid. If not Real – then a team under the top five of the Premier League.”
