French 3×3 Basketball Team Keeps Olympic Dream Alive with Victory Over Canada

Opposed to Canada at the end of the afternoon in Debrecen (Hungary), the French 3×3 basketball team was playing for its survival for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. And alive, the Blues are still alive, they who have beat the Canadians without trembling 21-11. Everything will be decided tomorrow during the last day of the Olympic Qualification Tournament.

The calculation was simple for the French this Saturday.

To continue to believe in their Olympic dream, the Blues absolutely had to beat Canada in the last group match of the TQO. A defeat was effectively synonymous with elimination, while a victory was synonymous with qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition (tomorrow), a necessary step to hope to finish in the Top 3 of the TQO (the three best teams will see the Olympic Games in Paris).

And in this (very dangerous) little game, Timothé Vergiat and his three friends delivered!

Buoyed by an exterior address reminiscent of the Splash Brothers’ finest hours, the Blues dismissed Canada 21-11. As a symbol, Raphaël Wilson (AinStar represent!) put his team on the right track by stringing together 2-point banderillas, he who was having a hard time with his shooting in previous matches. It was also Raph who scored the winning basket on a final free throw. Thanks to this victory, the Blues finally finished second in their group and therefore qualified for the rest.

THE BLUE ARE GOING IN QUARTER ✅
