Cuba obtained its first victory in the World Classic

The Cuban team got its first victory in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) after defeating the national team of Panama with an overwhelming 13-4, in a match where they showed all their offensive power.

The Cuban team began its offensive quickly with a score scored in the first episode and later in the second. However, Panama went ahead with four runs in the bottom of the second thanks to a home run by Rubén Tejada and a line drive by Allen Córdoba.

The game would remain with the same score until the top of the sixth, at which time a difficult moment began for the Panamanian team.

The offense began with a single by Yadir Drake to drive in Erisbel Arruebarrena. After that, Yoán Moncada and Luis Robert Jr. appeared to score a total of four lines in that episode.

In the top of the fifth they would add another five runs and finally scored two more in the top of the eighth to make it 13-4.

Yoán Moncada was the game’s most valuable player after going 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
