BARAHONA: With a total of 886 points, the Barahona Judo Association won first place in the IV Miguel Caro Judo Cup 2023 held on Saturday at the Palacio de los Deportes in Villa Central.
The locals hoarded a total of 22 medals, including eight gold, the same amount of silver and six bronze, to win the trophy for the contest, which was dedicated to the Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC).
The second place overall fell to the team from the San Juan de la Maguana Association, who added 432 goals, the product of four gold medals, three silver and a pair of bronze.
The Monte Plata Judo Association ranked third, shared with the Duarte province, both with 324 points, adding three first-place metals, two second-place medals and four bronze medals.
With 322 goals, the judo team from the National District was fourth, with three gold medals, two silvers and the same amount of bronze, while the representation of San Cristóbal was fifth, with 222 points, after getting two golds, a pair of silver and an equal quantity of bronze metals.
San Pedro de Macorís, with 213 points, took sixth place by obtaining two gold medals, one silver and three bronze, while the representation of Azua was seventh with 203 points, by achieving two gold and three bronze.
The tournament, organized by the Barahona Judo Association and the Albida Marina Santana Acosta club of that discipline, was held with the endorsement of the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo) and included the participation of athletes from 15 associations of that discipline.
The IV Miguel Caro Judo Cup had the support of Fedojudo, Economic Kitchens, Children of Nations Foundation, Miguel Florián Foundation, Moisés Ayala Foundation, as well as Hielo y Agua Everest, Búfalo Comercial and El Punto Billiards Club.
