The Super League returns with a new project, more open and fairer

Two years ago, twelve top European clubs, including six from the Premier League, unveiled plans for a Super League to compete with the Champions League. But in the face of vehement protests from supporters, clubs and federations, nine of the twelve clubs quickly withdrew from the project.

While UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin called the project “mort“On several occasions, a company, A22 Sports Management, was created to prepare a new proposal and relaunch the initiative.

German Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22, claimed to be in talks with around 50 European clubs. He would not give names or details. The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is due to rule soon on the legality of UEFA’s protection mechanisms against the Super League.
