The Raid Amazones is a multisport event (trail, mountain biking, run and bike, canoeing, archery, and orienteering) 100% female. It takes place over six days and brings together some 300 participants each year.

The Malestroyenne, Nadège Sérowill team up with Maude Meunier, from Rennes (Morbihan)with which she trained a lot to take up the challenge.

All two sports enthusiasts, they have always wanted to surpass themselves. They also wanted to show their children, through this extraordinary challenge, that anything is possible if you give yourself the means.

The project developed three years ago was a lot upset, but it gave them more time to prepare as well. Suffice to say that after all these adventures, the departure for Si Lanka is more than expected.

Self-transcendence as a driving force

Nadège Séro has always been sporty in nature. As a teenager, she had even participated in French cross country championships. If her three pregnancies led her to stop the sport, she put on her crampons when her youngest was three years old.

“I started trail running,half-marathon and mountain biking. I diversified the activities because the Raid Amazones has always been my dream. I said to myself that it was not because I was a mother that I could no longer access it, ”she explains.

In a very short time, she had raised the necessary funds thanks to several local companies that were sensitive both to the project led by this fighter, but also to the cause that she and her partner wanted to highlight.

Highlighting Anaïs’ disease

The raid, it was their dream, but they wanted to take advantage of it to support an association and the AIF was chosen. Nadège Séro knew Anaïs, a young girl from Saint-Marcel, suffering from very rare skin disease, l’ichtyose.

“It’s very complicated to live because the skin cracks with dryness. You have to constantly coat it with ointment and protect it in winter with strips”, explains the future participant of the raid. Affected individuals present with very red skin, which draws their features and peels a lot.

A Leetchi kitty was therefore set up in 2020, in which it is still possible to participate. Nadège and Maude having already financed their raid, all of the money collected will go to the AIF and to research.
