Double bronze medal for Sánchez-Ferrero

Double bronze medal for Gonzalo Sánchez-Ferrero from Avila in the Spanish Indoor Archery Championship held this weekend in Valladolid. A championship that brought together more than 600 archers from all over the national territory and in which the Avila player achieved two third places individually and in teams, in this case with the Community of Madrid.
The man from Avila competed in the compound bow modality, disputing the qualifying round before 123 archers. Tenth position in individual after 60 goals with a total of 289 and 289 and first in this phase with the Community of Madrid, where he formed a team with Ramón Lopez and David Fuertes.
The Sunday session opened with the team qualifiers. Start with a victory against Valencia by 227 to 220. In the semifinals they drew against Catalonia (232), deciding the pass in favor of the Catalans in the tiebreaker by just one point, 28 against 29. In the fight for bronze Gonzalo Sánchez – Ferrero and his teammates from the Community of Madrid beat Murcia with some comfort with 228 compared to 219.
In the individual draw, and after the qualifying phase, Sánchez – Ferrero began the qualifiers against the Catalan José Pérez Pérez by a tight 144 to 143. In the second round he won against the Murcian Alejandro García Cegarra by 143 to 141. In the quarterfinals Sánchez – Ferrero surpassed the Cantabrian Daniel Cobo Cayon by 147 to 145. The Avila man fell in the semifinals against the Andalusian Sergio Martínez, which led him to play the bronze medal against the Murcian Ramón López. A very tight fight that forced the tiebreaker with a ‘shoot off’ shot, a tiebreaker arrow that would give victory to Avila.
