Bundesliga: Augsburg – Hoffenheim 1-0! Augsburg’s crazy Friday series | Sports

A very late winner!

Augsburg wins against Hoffenheim 1-0, gets the three at the last minute. Fredrik Jensen peeks an extended corner over the line and shoots his team to victory (88th).

The FCA is thus expanding its impressive Friday series! Augsburg wins the sixth (!) Friday game in a row. It’s hard to imagine where the people of Fuggerstadt would be if they always played football on Fridays…

But before the winning goal they rage because of two referee decisions!

8 minutes: Augsburg’s Engels bounces the ball off his own foot and onto his arm. He then pulls away, his shot is deflected and tumbles into the Hoffenheim goal.

Referee Patrick Ittrich gives the goal first, but takes it back after consultation with Kölner Keller.

And he’s right – although the handball in midfield probably wouldn’t have been whistled!

BILD referee expert Thorsten Kinhöfer explains: “In itself, handball is not punishable. But since the player scores immediately afterwards, it is a handball in the goal creation and rightly doesn’t count.”

At the beginning of the second half, Augsburg celebrates again – and again in vain!

47 minutes: FCA striker Yeboah stumbles the ball against two defenders, which falls at the feet of attacking partner Demirovic. His shot hits the post, rebounds against Demirovic and finally into the goal. A real slapstick hit!

Just stupid: In a duel in front of the goal, Yeboah hits Hoffenheim defender Vogt in the face. According to the VAR pictures, Ittrich whistles foul, the hit doesn’t count again.

Kinhöfer: “Yeboah hits him in the face with his hand. A clear foul, even if it was unintentional.”

In the end, Augsburg can still celebrate. While Hoffenheim has a real horror series! They last won a Bundesliga game in October last year! This is how TSG slides further and further into the Bundesliga basement…
