The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich are increasingly losing sight of the playoffs in the EuroLeague. A week after the narrow defeat at top team FC Barcelona, the Munich team also lost 71:82 (33:39) to Partizan Belgrade in their own hall. The best thrower of the offensively disappointing Bundesliga club was Dennis Seeley with eleven points.
“It’s bitter in the playoff fight. It’s going to be a monster task now, but we’re taking it from game to game,” said national player Andreas Obst at MagentaSport. After the 15th defeat in the 24th game of the season, Bayern have ten games to play and a difficult gap to the targeted position.
In front of numerous Belgrade fans who had traveled with them and turned the Munich Arena into a cauldron, the weakened team of coach Andrea Trinchieri got into the game and stayed within striking distance until the end of the first half. In the third quarter, however, the Munich offensive was paralyzed – Partizan pulled away and celebrated their fourth win in a row.
Alba Berlin had already suffered their sixth consecutive defeat on Wednesday. The German champions clearly lost 60:93 (35:45) in their own hall against the leader Olympiakos Piraeus.
