Puerto Cabello will host the Davis Cup of Tennis

The Venezuelan tennis society with the relevant organizations managed to recover the locality, and now they assume a new challenge against Hong Kong that has in its ranks the player Coleman Wong, the most outstanding of the foreign team, winner of two Grand Slam as a junior at the Australia Open 2022 and the USA Open in 2021.

The Creoles will have Willy Campos as captain and Ricardo Rodríguez as co-captain, who will have the number one tennis player in the country, Ricardo Rodríguez, (Dracula Open 2022 champion), as well as one of the best doubles players in Venezuela, Brandon Pérez, and the rookie Diego González. Also present will be Rafa Abdul Salam, captain of the Division 1 team at the University of New Mexico, and young prospect Francisco Sinopoli.

Venezuela’s best results date back to 1960 and 1963, when they reached the final of the American Group. After several years with more experienced tennis players, they reached the World Group qualifiers in 1995 and 2002. The tricolor history points to several outstanding players such as Jorge Andrew, Nicolás Pereira and Jimy Szymanski.
