Officials of the International Judo Federation teach a course in Cuba

Havana, 24 ne.- An international accreditation course for Cuban coaches, taught by officials of the International Judo Federation (IJF, for its acronym in English), began this Monday in the Cuban capital.

The meeting, whose first session took place in the Magistral Hall of the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, was attended by Envic Galea, head of the IJF Academy, and Tibor Kozsla, director of education of that entity.

Also participating were Antonio Castro Soto del Valle, IJF ambassador; Rafael Manso, president of the Cuban Judo Federation, and coaches of the discipline.

“The course gives coaches an opportunity to ensure their knowledge in the discipline. The Academy teaches them a terminology to name the more than 100 techniques recognized by Kodokan”, explained Galea.

“When a judge points out a technique, he must know it, and the same goes for the coach, who must teach the athlete to master it and use it correctly”, clarified the head of the IJF Academy.

“Our job is to ensure that when they get their IJF coaching license they know the refereeing rules, judo classifications, history, ethics and of course those 100 techniques,” concluded the Maltese.

This Tuesday the federations will visit the Cuban Sports Research Center, as part of their busy schedule in the largest of the Antilles. Meetings with the main authorities of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation and the Cuban Olympic Committee are also included. (Text and photo: JIT)
