Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis is in critical condition after saving his children from drowning in a swimming accident in Florida.

This was learned by “Sports Illustrated” on Friday.
Hillis was airlifted to a Pensacola area hospital. According to what one of his uncles wrote on his Facebook page, the 36-year-old was in intensive care, but his condition was improving.
The former running back played seven seasons in the NFL, he who wore the colors of the Denver Broncos (2008 to 2009), the Cleveland Browns (2010 to 2011), the Kansas City Chiefs (2012) and the Giants of New York (2013 to 2014).
In 81 games, Hillis had 2,832 yards and 23 touchdowns on 696 career carries. He also caught 134 passes for 1,050 yards and three majors.
