The Tarragona town of Tortosa hosted this Saturday the Spanish Cup in the children’s category in which more than 300 children from all the autonomous communities gathered. Among them, there was representation from Somontano with the teams from Space Life and of the Barbastro Judo Club. The Spanish Cup began in Barbastro on November 18 and 20 and will conclude in Alicante on March 15.
The results obtained for Space Life They represent an important improvement to those achieved in the Barbastro edition as stated by their coach Alberto Puertas: in the women’s -36kg category, the judoka from Peraltilla Paula Riverola Bertrán climbed to the podium obtaining the bronze medal.
On the other hand, in the men’s -50kg category, Gabriel Gay Salas competed, obtaining a well-deserved seventh place and adding his first points in the national ranking.
For him Barbastro Judo Club Jorge Santiago, Daniel García, Manuel Samitier and Carlos Giral, trained by Antonio Clager, participated in their second competition in a national tournament.
The Binéfar Judo Club, whose head is Antonio Clager, also from Barbastre, has participated with 12 athletes and has achieved a total of 4 medals, one gold, two silver, one bronze and one fifth place. Daniel Terés was fifth, Martina Aurín, silver medal, Nora Seira, gold, Ballalo Coulibaly, bronze, and Sogona Magassa, silver. The rest of the team was made up of Sofía Caferatta, Sira Diallo, Julián Murillo, Hugo Agrelo, Héctor Cardil and Antonio Clager.
For its part, the Tamarite Judo Club, also trained by Antonio Clager from Barbastre, participated with three judokas: Rubén Puertas, David Puertas and Pol Blanco.
Super Cup of Spain June
On the other hand, this weekend the Junior Super Cup of Spain was also played, in which the athletes of the Binéfar Judo Club reaped good results. Alejandra Pérez was plant, Hugo Terés, bronze and Alba Sánchez was fifth. Alba Cajal also participated.
