Gasquet entrance tomb in Adelaide

The French lost in the first round of the Australian tournament against the American Marcos Giron.

Frenchman Richard Gasquet lost on Sunday as soon as he entered the Adelaide tournament in Australia, beaten by American Marcos Giron, 7-6 (7/5), 6-7 (6/8), 7 -5.

Aged 36, Gasquet, currently 68th in the ATP rankings, managed to win the tie-break of the second set after losing that of the first, but he was dominated in the last round.

Giron won in just under three hours their first clash on the circuit.

The 29-year-old American, 61st in the world, could meet in the next round the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, seeded N.2 in the tournament, who will be opposed to a player from the qualifications for his debut.
