Formula 1 2023, best tips

F1 fans will agree that betting on the sport is very compelling and challenging at the same time. Bookmakers from all over the world, including Malaysia bookmakers who watch overall sports betting grow in the last few years, have specially dedicated sections on F1 bets, because of their high popularity and the fact that they are increasingly preferred by punters, as F1 becomes also more and more popular as a sport.

In the following discussion, you will find the top five tips for F1 betting, which will make you obtain an edge!

Tip #1: Don’t bet all your money on the favorites

Just like in every other sport, upsets can happen in F1 and they have actually happened! Drivers are only humans. Things can go well but they can also go bad even for the most competent and skilled drivers. Favorites are not guaranteed to win and underdogs are not deemed to lose. Don’t just bet all your money on favorites, because you may be very surprised in the end.

Tip #2: Don’t over-rely on qualifying times

Qualifying is the process of determining the starting position of the drivers and not the end winner of the race. Drivers’ times and performance in qualifying can be an indicator of what to expect in the subsequent circuit, but they can’t guarantee that the fastest driver in qualifying will also win the race.

It is one thing to have a race wide open to compete only with “time” and another thing to have all other drivers within the same race track competing both with each other and with time.

That said, it would be wiser to avoid making explicit links between qualifying and the actual race in F1 betting.

Tip #3: Check the circuit: look for fit between the driver and the racetrack

For 2023 there will be a record of 24 races, which means 24 different circuits. Different circuits mean different requirements from the drivers and so drivers have to match their abilities and skills to these requirements. In fact, drivers don’t do well in all race tracks, regardless of their type. Some circuits click with drivers and some drivers feel more confident and stronger when they are in certain circuits. Think of Lewis Hamilton who is admittedly more proficient in Montreal!

So, before betting on F1 do some reading on how the drivers behave in certain race tracks and then make your decision. You can find plenty of information on the internet on past performance records.

Tip #4: Check the weather conditions

The weather is a critical factor influencing drivers’ performance in F1. Some drivers are actually better than others on wet roads for example and they have an edge when there are rainy weather conditions. And besides the fact that the weather, itself can influence the race, there are also the adjustments and changes that need to be made by the teams in response to rain or humidity, which can also affect drivers’ performance.

Tip #5: Consider grid position, but have in mind that it doesn’t always mean something

Previously we said that qualifying times do not point out the winner and this is something to always keep in mind. Now, it is also important to remember that grid position, which is the result of qualifying sessions, is a significant plus for the driver but it too cannot determine the winner. Any other position than the Pole Position does not preclude victory.
