On a rainy afternoon in Serravalle, San Marino scored their second success in the direct clash against Parmaclima 12-3. Thriller final in Macerata with the victory of UnipolSai Bologna after 9 rounds against Hotsand Macerata with a ninth inning in which everything happens. Gabriele Quattrini (8IP, 8H, 2BB, 4K) and Filippo Crepaldi (4IP, 5H, BB, 3K) – later taken over by Alex Bassani – lead two excellent starts on the platform and, as happened in game 1, the match remained blocked until decisive phases. Between the fourth and fifth innings the most delicious chances take place with Carrera eliminated at home plate for the locals on Di Turi’s hit and Paolini’s double play on the line in the fifth Emilian attack. Bertossi’s double for the guests and Gionni Luciani’s advancement to third base for Macerata in the seventh inning were not enough to break the deadlock. We get to the ninth when Ion Doba enters for Hotsand on the mound and two bases on balls put runners on the corners for the visitors. An imprecise and uncontrolled throw behind the plate allows Giacomini to score the first point of the game, as well as the series, for Bologna. Ricardo Paolini and Eugene Helder hit two one-run singles, then Filippo Agretti put the exclamation point with a 2-RBI hit. Hotsand did not give up and made an extraordinary effort in the ninth attack, scoring 4 points (2 RBI for Leonora and Bernadina), but Maurizio Andretta won the last out and gave the Bolognese the victory.

Second victory of the weekend for Big Mat BSC Grosseto who defeats BBC Grosseto with a pyrotechnic 15-10. The Big Mat took the lead in the opening round with Mattia Mercuri’s three-run home run – the first of the season – and then built the fourth run in the second inning with Federico Giordani’s sacrifice fly. The BBC reacts and shortens in the third inning (double by Barcelan and two-run single by Martini) then turns the game around with two more points in the fourth attack (another RBI by Martini and defensive error by Big Mat). The whirlwind, however, continues and Big Mat dispels any doubt in the fifth attack by scoring 11 points on 8 hits against the opposing relievers (3 RBI for Cappuccini in the same inning). BBC Grosseto’s last gasp came in the seventh round with 5 points scored (3-point triple for Bruno), but Federico Pecci closed the contest at 15-10.
