The NFL world is in mourning. This Monday, January 2, the media TMZ reported the death of Uche Nwaneri at the age of just 38. The body of the former American football player, who played as an offensive guard, was found dead at the home of his wife, located in the town of West Lafayette, in the state of Indiana. Police attended after receiving a call overnight that the former Jacksonville Jaguars member had collapsed in his bedroom. While the official cause of death of Uche Nwaneri has not yet been determined, the medical examiner’s preliminary report indicates that the American died of a “enlarged heart with acute heart failure“, resulting in cardiorespiratory arrest. Authorities said no signs of trauma or foul play were found.
In response to the sad news, Tony Khan, the son of the Jaguars franchise owner, paid a heartfelt tribute to Uche Nwaneri on Twitter: “Rest in peace. Uche Nwaneri played 7 seasons with Jaguars from 2007 to 2013 and forged a strong bond with Jaguars fans that has endured to this day. On behalf of the Jaguars organization and my family, our hearts go out to Uche’s family and friends at this terrible time.“
