The Prosecutor’s Office opens an investigation into the racist insults to Nico Williams in the Metropolitano

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Madrid has decided to open an investigation to clarify the identity of those who uttered racist insults against Nico Williams in the stadium Metropolitan City. The authorities already identified one of the alleged aggressors a week after what happened, which is why Atlético de Madrid announced their expulsion as a subscriber to the animation stand “for an indefinite period while his case is resolved in the competent sanctioning bodies”.

Furthermore, and in order to facilitate this investigation work, the Prosecutor’s Office has also asked the club to provide all the images it has of that match that was held on April 27 and that ended with a 3-1 in favor of the club. What happened was also reflected in the match report, where the field referee, Juan Martínez Munuera, explained that “from the south stand a sound imitating a monkey ‘UH, UH’ was heard”, which is why who decided to stop the game.
